American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST)
The American Association for the Surgery of Trauma was conceived during the meetings of the Western Surgical Association and Southern Surgical Association in December 1937. The 14 founders who were present at one or both of these meetings invited another 68 surgeons to a Founding Members meeting in San Francisco on June 14, 1938 and the first official meeting of the AAST was held in May 1939 in Hot Springs, Virginia.Since its inception the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma was established to further the study and practice of traumatic surgery in its various departments, in the United States and Canada.
American College of Surgeons - Committee on Trauma
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice. From 2012 to 2013, the College observed a year-long commemoration of its Centennial, "100 Years of Inspiring Quality."


Australasian Trauma Society
Trauma across the spectrum is represented by many clinicians who individually have been members of their particular specialty groups and colleges. The ATS focuses on multidisciplinary trauma management and as such members from many different specialties come together to benefit in many ways.

Brazilian Trauma Society
Além de um Congresso que reúne profissionais de diferentes especialidades e que aborda temas que vão desde a prevenção até a reabilitação passando pelo atendimento pré-hospitalar e hospitalar, a SBAIT promoveu, em comunhão com outras sociedades médicas, iniciativas de grande impacto como vários programas de atualização e reciclagem no atendimento ao traumatizado, a Semana do Trauma e as simulações do atendimento de desastres.

The Chinese Medical Doctor Association (CMDA) is a national, voluntary, not-for-profit, professional association of 4.6 million medical professionals in China. Representing the collective view of Chinese physicians, surgeons, medical researchers and healthcare workers, CMDA is committed to advocating for better public healthcare and providing leadership for the Chinese medical community.


Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma
Established in 1986, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) is a not for profit 501(c) 3 organization organized to furnish leadership and foster advances in the care of injured patients. EAST affords a forum for the exchange of knowledge pertaining to the care and rehabilitation of the injured patient. Additionally, the organization stimulates investigation and teaching in methods of treating and preventing injury from all causes. EAST is dedicated to the study of the practice of surgery of trauma patients by establishing lectureships, scholarships, and foundations to promote, reward and recognize individuals working in the field of injury and injury control.
EAST has more than 2,000 members who are involved in the care of the injured patient.
European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES)
ESTES was formed in 2007 by the merger of the European Association for Trauma & Emergency Surgery and the European Trauma Society. Since then it has continued to promote best practice in the provision of emergency and trauma surgery from pre-hospital care through diagnosis, intervention and intensive care to rehabilitation. This is underpinned by international collaboration, scientific research, development and delivery of training courses, and the work of the specialist sections (Disaster & Military Surgery, Emergency Surgery, Polytrauma, Visceral Trauma as well as Skeletal Trauma and Sports Medicine).

Indian Association of Traumatology & Critical Care (IATCC)
The Indian Association of Traumatology & Critical Care (IATCC) was established in 1989 as a specialty section of the Association of Surgeons of India. The IATCC promotes education, training and research in trauma prevention & care, trauma epidemiology & protocols, prehospital care, disaster management, acute care surgery and critical care of the injured patient by conducting skills workshops, continuing medical education programs across India and an annual national conference.


Indian Society for Trauma & Acute Care
The mission of the ISTAC® is to provide a professional forum for the exchange of information, education and training regarding all aspects of Trauma Care including Pre-hospital, In-hospital acute care and definitive care for accident and trauma victims. Exchange of information and education through training programs will also focus on the field of Disaster Medicine.
International Society of Surgery ISS/SIC
The International Society of Surgery (ISS/SIC) is considered today one of the most distinguished and prestigious international surgical societies in the world. The International Society of Surgery - La Société Internationale de Chirurgie – was funded in 1902 on the initiative of Belgian surgeons Antoine Depage and his colleagues. After the establishment of the Society with its head-office in Belgium, the first international surgical meeting was held in Brussels in 1905 and was chaired by a famous Swiss surgeon, Dr.Theodor Kocher. The Society’s journal, the World Journal of Surgery, was founded in 1977.

Japanese Society for the Acute Care Surgery (JSACS)

Lusitanian Association for Trauma and Emergency Surgery
ALTEC-LATES (Associação Lusitana de Trauma e Emergência Cirúrgica or Lusitanian Association for Trauma and Emergency Surgery), with its headquarters in Coimbra, in the center region of Portugal – the heart of the ancient Lusitania –, from which it is the capital, is one of the independent groups in the field of trauma surgery education in Portugal, all represented in the Committee for Emergency Surgery Education of Ordem dos Médicos (CESE-OM), and an institucional member of the European Society for Trauma And Emergency Surgery (ESTES).


Orthopaedic Trauma Association
The Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) is an international society with a membership of over 2,300 orthopaedic trauma surgeons. The mission of the OTA is to promote excellence in care for the injured patient, through the provision of scientific forums and support of musculoskeletal research and education of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the public. Society of Trauma Nurses
The Society of Trauma Nurses is a professional nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure optimal trauma care to all people locally, regionally, nationally and globally through initiatives focused on trauma nurses related to prevention, education and collaboration with other healthcare disciplines. The Society of Trauma Nurses advocates for the highest level of quality trauma care across the continuum.
